Independent Lebanese civil society organization

Building the foundations of lasting peace in Lebanon.

Peace is more than the absence of violence. The Positive Peace Foundation builds the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful, resilient and thriving communities through research, training and field action.

Why positive peace

From crisis response to lasting resilience

For decades, peacebuilding in the region has focused on crisis response and negative peace: simply the absence of violence. Lebanon’s socio-economic challenges, institutional fragility and community polarization need more than short-term relief.

PPF bridges the gap between high-level policy research, practical civic education and direct grassroots conflict resolution. Together, they offer one evidence-based roadmap for national renewal.

Negative peace

  • Absence of active violence
  • Reactive crisis management
  • Piecemeal, short-term relief
  • Interventions in isolation

Positive peace

  • Attitudes, institutions & structures that sustain peace
  • Prevention and early de-escalation
  • Long-term, systemic change
  • A unified, multi-sector framework
